Closin’ up shop

Well, folks, it’s that time of year.  People are moving on and moving up: to a new grade, to a new school, to new jobs.  Things are changing.
And Per.spec.tive is no exception.  Over the last year, we’ve seen dozens of talented kids (and a few teachers!) post their art, and we’ve posted hundreds of comments on it.  I think we’ve created an incredible community of artists here,  and I’m proud to have been a part of it.

But, as I’m not going to be teaching here next year, Per.spec.tive is going to be gone, too.  So, thanks to all the artists who posted their work, to all the kids who commented on it, and to all the teachers who gave Per.spec.tive their support.  I’ll miss you all.  Best of luck next year!

Per.spec.tive Idol contest winners!

perspective idol logoIn case you haven’t heard on the announcements or in the comments yet, UGMS has spoken in the Per.spec.tive Idol contest–and the winner is…A TIE!

That’s right, we actually had two co-winners: Amanda and Cecilia. Check out their awesome entries, and leave them some comments!

And big thanks to all the great artists who entered the contest. We had a terrific response, and I hope I see you all on Per.spec.tive again!

Gabriell M

Gabriell MMmmm, I really like the graceful, flowing lines in this drawing…they’re so graceful!  I love how this figure dominates the composition; very dramatic.

Ashley G

ashley gI like the contrast here between the tough-looking  character and her cute little sidekick!

our first contest!

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for the 1st annual…perspective idol logo

That’s right, we’re sponsoring an art contest! First prize is a $20 gift certificate, and the judges are…you! The rules are simple:

  • Entries must be personally given to me (Mr. Priem) in T-20 before Feb. 9
  • All entries will be posted on Per.spec.tive
  • Voting will begin Monday, Feb. 12, and end that Friday.
Students may email me their vote, or fill out a paper ballot in the media center.
  • The winner will be announced Monday, Feb. 19

May the best artist win!

Per.spec.tive Poll!

We’re proud to introduce a new feature here at Per.spec.tive: a poll!  No more sitting around your house, wishing you could anonymously register your opinion on some trivial topic!  Now you can vote here!  Yay!  Here’s our first poll ever:

Per.spec.tive

Per.spec.tive is going on a much needed summer vacation!

You’ll have to wait till next year to submit any new art or poems; in the meantime, feel free to check out and comment on student work from last year.  It’s pretty darn sweet, if I do say so myself.

Big thanks to all the teachers and students whose comments and creative work supported this site in its first months.  See you next year!
